3~18

Hw finish the 19 vocab words that we started last Thursday. Each word needs a book definition, your definitions, an example,And a trigger fun way to remember the word
1.    Coefficient:
A number used to multiply a variable (can be a fraction)
2.    Identity:
An equation that is true for every value for the variable.
3.    Multiplicative Inverse:
Two numbers with a product of 1 (multiply by the reciprocal)
4.    Zero Pair (aka Null Set):
The empty set or a negative and positive number that make zero.
5.    Properties:
statements that are true about any number
6.    2-Step Equation:
An equation that contains two operations.
7.    **Expression:
A number sentence written without the equal sign but still contains numbers, operations and sometimes variables
8.    Equation:
A mathematical sentence stating that two quantities are equal. Contains numbers, variables, and operation
9.    Equivalence:
being equal
10. Slope:
The ratio of the change in the y-coordinates (rise) to the corresponding change in the x-coordinates (run) as you move from one point to another along a line.
11. Y-intercept:
The y-intercept of a line is the point at which the line crosses the y axis. ( i.e. where the x value equals 0 )
12. **Integer:
A number with no fractional part.
13. Distributive Property:
To multiply a sum by a number, multiply each addend by the number outside the parenthesis. Or if you multiply the sum by a number you wil get the same result as if you multiply each addend by that number and add the products.
14. **Order of operations:
The rules of which calculation comes first in an expression They are:. do everything inside parentheses first: (). then do exponents, like x2. then do multiplies and divides from left to right. lastly do the adds and subtracts from left to right
15. Variable:
a symbol, usually a letter, used to represent a number in mathematical expressions or sentences.
16. Linear Equation:
                                               i.     A linear equation is an equation for a straight line
17. Unit Rate:
A rate or ratio with a denominator of 1.
18. Term:
A variable, number of a mixture of numbers and variables multiplied together.
19. **Solution:
A value you can put in place of a variable (such as x) that would make the equation true.
